Dear My Friends

February 28, 2014

Dear my friends,

You seem to be very busy with UN Women activities in New York.  I wonder if you are in a good shape since it is reported that New York has lots of snow this year.

Today I would like to inform you of the performance of a famous Roukyoku (Japanese traditional narrative accompanied by music) singer, Ms. Keiko Haruno in New York.  She graduated from Tokyo University.  She is from Sakai City and has close ties with the City.  She is a TV navigator for Sakai City promotion and movie actress.  She is really a wonderful feminist.

It is our plan to have her in our Safe City Program steering committee since her contribution will be great in realizing gender equal society through traditional culture of Roukyoku that is unique to Japan.

It is “Roukyoku Rock You in NY” with workshop and performance.  The performance is at NYC JaNet Hall (2 West 47th Street, 7th floor) at 19:30, March 5th, 2014.  Admission is free.

Please visit JaNet Hall and see her performance if you have time.  Please let me know if you can come.  Then I will tell her about your coming to the performance.

I hope you will enjoy her performance and workshop that will lead you to the world of Japanese culture of Roukyoku.

With my best regards,

Noriko Yamaguchi
